FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: A Living Legacy: 250 Trees for America’s 250th

(March 3, 2026) Prescott, Arizona

There is something truly special about the legacy of a tree. As Megan Smith, publisher of The Daily Courier, beautifully puts it: 'There is a profound sense of continuity in planting a tree; it is a gift to the future that starts with a bit of dirt under your fingernails today."

To celebrate our nation’s Semiquincentennial, Watters Garden Center is proud to continue our long-standing partnership with The Daily Courier by launching a mission to plant 250 native trees across our community.

Starting today, you can preorder Arizona’s hardiest beauties for an Arbor Day pickup on April 24th. We’ve selected four champions for our mountain climate: Arizona's fastest evergreen, Deador Cedar, the ever elegant Prescott Purple Plum, pollinator favorite Chaste Tree, and Watters' select Seedless Desert Willow for endless flowers that attract hummingbirds all summer long. These varieties aren't just tough; they are deep-rooted symbols of our commitment to organic, environmentally safe gardening.

“Each tree comes with a commemorative Semiquincentennial medallion to hang on your tree, making it a perfect birth, memorial, or ‘just because’ gift,” says Ken Lain, owner of Watters Garden Center. Supplies are strictly limited, so secure your piece of history at WattersGardenCenter.com. Let's grow a greener legacy together.
