Ooooh, so this is what Katy Perry was singing about in her song "Firework"! Explosions of unusual, globe-shaped rosy-purple flowers spanning 8 to 12" across are proudly displayed on stems of varying heights, delivering intense visual interest to mixed beds and borders. Additionally, Allium Schubertii is also wonderful for patio pots or indoor forcing, where they'll gladly show off unique forms and colors.
An heirloom first cultivated back in 1594, this dazzling variety is very attractive to butterflies and bees. Plus, it thrives in a wide range of climates with little more than plenty of sunshine and the occasional drink of water. Expert tip: After blooming has finished for the season, use the large, dry flower heads for a sparkler-like display in a vase!
