A simple and shiny way to keep those feathered fruit fanatics away from your precious trees, grapes, and berries. It’s all about using their natural aversion to flashing light and rustling sounds to your advantage.
It reflects light from multiple angles, making it extra effective. Then, cut the tape strips, about two to three feet long. Tie these strips to the branches of your fruit trees and berry bushes, spacing them evenly throughout the canopy. The idea is to create a shimmering, moving barrier that birds find unsettling.
Ensure the tape is tied loosely enough to flutter in the breeze, as the movement and sound are key to its effectiveness. You can also hang longer strips of tape from poles around the perimeter of your garden, creating a wider protective zone. Check the tape regularly, especially after strong winds, to ensure it’s still securely tied and fluttering.
Birds get used to anything, so moving the tape around every few weeks is a good idea, or combining it with other deterrents, like bird netting or reflective spinners, to keep them guessing. It's a low-cost, low-fuss way to keep your harvest for yourself.
