A generous cluster of large, round, pale green grapes with a wonderfully sweet and slightly tangy flavor. These are classic white grapes, perfect for eating fresh, making juice, or even making homemade jams and jellies. The Niagara Grape is a vigorous vine that can easily climb and spread 15 to 20 feet, providing not only delicious fruit but also lovely shade and visual interest when trained over an arbor or trellis.
Now, when it comes to sunshine, the Niagara Grape thrives in full sun, requiring at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight each day to produce the best quality and quantity of fruit. While it can tolerate some light afternoon shade, a sunny location is key for sweet and abundant grapes. And for those of you who have deer visiting your garden, grapevines can sometimes be tempting, especially young shoots, so that some protection might be necessary.
To ensure a bountiful harvest of those sweet Niagara grapes, I recommend planting your vine in well-draining soil. When planting, amend the soil with Watters Premium Mulch to help retain moisture, suppress weeds, and provide a healthy environment for the roots. In early spring, before new growth begins, and again after the fruit has set, feed your grapevine with a balanced fertilizer like Watters 6-4-4 Fruit & Vegetable Food to encourage strong growth and a heavy crop of delicious grapes.
Plant a Niagara Grape vine, and get ready to enjoy the rewarding experience of harvesting your own sweet, homegrown grapes. It's a fantastic addition to any edible landscape! Happy growing and happy eating!
