SWISS CHARD 4in

You want a leafy green that is a workhorse in your garden? Swiss chard is the answer! This versatile vegetable loves our cooler fall and spring weather in Arizona and can even tolerate some of our summer heat without bolting to seed like lettuce and spinach. The plants grow to about 2 feet tall, so be sure to give them enough space—about a foot apart—for good air circulation. It thrives in a location with at least six hours of sun each day. I recommend planting the vibrant 'Rainbow' variety for a beautiful mix of colors in your garden. While Swiss chard is a great addition to your yard, you will want to protect it from deer. Using a deer repellent or fence is the best way to keep your harvest all to yourself.
