If you’re looking for a plant with some serious "attitude" and high-voltage color, Heuchera 'Zipper' is an absolute showstopper. I love this variety because it’s a master of transformation. Its leaves are incredibly ruffled and "zipped" at the edges, showing off a stunning contrast between the top and bottom colors. The foliage shifts through a wild palette of orange, amber, and golden-yellow, but it’s the bright magenta-pink undersides that really make it special—whenever the mountain breeze catches those ruffled edges, you get a flash of that "secret" pink!

For our Prescott gardens, 'Zipper' is a fantastic choice because it’s much more robust than many other orange-toned varieties. It has larger, sturdier leaves that handle our climate with ease, maintaining its brilliant glow from the first thaw of spring through the last frost. While it produces dainty white flowers in the summer, 'Zipper' is really grown for that architectural, high-texture foliage. It thrives in partial shade and is perfect for adding a "crunchy," colorful texture to the front of a garden bed or as a bold, multi-colored centerpiece in a patio pot.
