Broadleaf evergreen ground cover, prostrate, compact, slow-growing, may grow to about 1 ft high and 6 ft wide; bark reddish-gray and peeling. Leaves smaller than the species type, medium to dark green, may turn bronzish in winter. Flowers white and somewhat pinkish, abundant. Fruit bright red.
