If you are looking for a plant that brings a cheerful, wildflower meadow feel to your garden with almost zero effort, Mexican Daisy Fleabane is the true star of the show. This rugged little perennial forms a dense, mounded carpet about 10 to 15 inches tall, covered in a profusion of delicate white daisies that blush to a soft pink as they age. It absolutely thrives in our intense high-mountain sun and actually prefers the leaner, well-drained soils found in rock gardens or tucked between stone pavers. One of my favorite things about this "tough as nails" plant is that deer and rabbits generally find the slightly hairy stems and pungent foliage unappealing, leaving your cascading blooms perfectly intact. It’s a self-seeding wonder that fills in cracks and crevices beautifully, giving your yard a timeless, natural look that feels like it’s been there for generations.
