When the first warm days of spring arrive, you will want the Rip Van Winkle Daffodil in your garden. This unique and beloved heirloom variety is a true standout, with fluffy, golden-yellow double flowers that look like tiny sunbursts. Standing 6 to 10 inches tall, it is a perfect dwarf plant for the front of your garden beds, rockeries, or containers, providing an enchanting pop of color and texture. Best of all, this daffodil is cold-hardy and thrives in zones 7-8. Its toxic nature makes it naturally resistant to deer and rabbits, so you can plant it with confidence.
To ensure a spectacular bloom, plant your 'Rip Van Winkle' bulbs this fall in a well-drained spot that receives full sun or part shade. As with any bulb, the soil must be prepared properly. When planting, we recommend mixing one part Watters Premium Mulch into two parts of your native soil, along with a handful of Bone Meal. This combination will give your bulbs the best start for strong root growth. After planting, sprinkle Watters All Purpose Plant Food and Humic as a top dressing to improve the soil and provide the nutrients needed for abundant flowers in the spring.
