If you’re looking for a houseplant that’s as easygoing as a Sunday morning, let me introduce you to Peperomia Hope. This little gem is a hybrid between P. deppeana and P. quadrifolia, and it’s inherited the best traits of both. With its succulent, coin-shaped leaves trailing gracefully over the edge of a pot, it’s the perfect candidate for a bookshelf or a hanging basket.
The secret to keeping "Hope" happy is mimicking its tropical roots without drowning it. These plants store water in those thick, fleshy leaves, so they are quite forgiving if you miss a watering. I always tell folks: wait until the top two inches of soil feel dry to the touch before reaching for the watering can. Give it plenty of bright, indirect light to keep those trailing stems lush and compact. If the stems get too long or "leggy," it’s simply telling you it needs a bit more sunshine. Use a well-draining potting mix (cactus or succulent mix works great).
