Succulent Adenium Obesum 'Desert Rose'

The Adenium Obesum, commonly known as the Desert Rose, is a living masterpiece that brings a touch of exotic, sculptural beauty right into your home. You will love this striking succulent for its thick, bulbous trunk—known as a caudex—and its brilliant canopy of trumpet-shaped, vibrant pink or deep red flowers that make it look like a blooming bonsai tree. It is the perfect choice for the everyday gardener who wants a dramatic, conversation-starting centerpiece for a sunny windowsill without the constant fuss of traditional flowering houseplants. Indoors, this slow-growing wonder typically reaches a highly manageable one to three feet in height, keeping its neat, architectural form while transforming any bright room into a desert oasis.

To encourage those stunning blooms, place your Desert Rose in the brightest spot you have, such as directly in front of a south-facing window, as it absolutely thrives in full, direct sunlight. Because it expertly stores water in its swollen trunk, it appreciates a bit of neglect; always allow the soil to dry out completely from top to bottom before giving it a deep, thorough soak to prevent root rot. Please be aware that the Desert Rose is highly toxic and not pet-safe, as its sap can cause serious reactions if ingested, so you must keep this beautiful plant safely out of reach of curious dogs and cats.
