Syngonium 'Confetti'

The Arrowhead Vine 'Confetti' (Syngonium podophyllum) is a whimsical trailing plant that looks as though a painter gently flicked pink watercolor across its pale green, arrow-shaped leaves. You will want this delightful vine in your home because it brings an effortless, joyful splash of color to any room without the fuss of maintaining a blooming flower. Indoors, it stays a manageable 1 to 2 feet tall and wide, forming a lush, bushy mound before gracefully spilling over the edges of a hanging basket or high shelf. To keep those signature pink freckles bright and vibrant, place your 'Confetti' in bright, indirect sunlight, such as a few feet back from an east or west-facing window, as too little light will cause the new foliage to revert to solid green. It is important to know that this charming houseplant is not pet-safe, so you must place it securely out of reach if you share your home with curious cats and dogs.

Caring for your 'Confetti' is a deeply rewarding experience once you understand its tropical rainforest roots. Because this plant naturally grows under the humid jungle canopy, you must keep the soil lightly and evenly moist, but never soggy. Wait until the top inch of your well-draining indoor potting mix feels dry to the touch before giving it a thorough drink, and always make sure the excess water drains completely from the bottom so the roots can breathe. If you notice the edges of those beautiful pink-flecked leaves turning brown and crispy, the air in your home is likely a bit too dry; simply place the pot on a water-filled pebble tray or group it with other plants to provide the ambient humidity it craves. Treat it to these simple comforts, and this lively vine will eagerly grow alongside you, unfurling striking new leaves all year long.
