FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Rotarian’s Buried Alive in Food

May 19, 2020, Prescott, Arizona – The community support was overwhelming. Food piled high at both collection points this weekend with four pickup trucks and a mini-fan provided by Findley Toyota filled to the brim with food. “It started on Thursday as the word spread. We stored the food in my office through Sunday until I couldn’t get to my desk because of the huge community outpouring. Thank you Prescott!” says Ken Lain, owner of Watters Garden Center.

Prescott Frontier Rotary saw the local need with Community Cupboard and rallied the club to fill the local food bank. Mike Payson says, “The club rallies around a monthly service project culminating in our signature school fundraiser ‘Grapes 4 Grapes’.  Because of this month’s food drive, there will be less hunger in Prescott.”  Pinterest Board of this year’s Food Drive.

More than collected food here at Olsen’s, the club received over $3500 for the cause that goes directly into the food coffers.” says Steve Sischka, owner of Olsen’s Grain.

Globally, Rotary’s goal is to stamp out Polio and provide clean drinking water to every person on the planet. It’s the only organization that has ‘World Peace’ as a mission statement through its international student exchange programs.  Brandon Montoya, this year’s president, says, “We welcome community members into the club. You just need to have a heart for your community, our nation, and the globe, plus like to hang out weekly with fascinating people.”

Prescott Frontier Rotary meets for lunch every Tuesday from 12 to 1pm. We meet via Zoom for the next few weeks; if you would like more information please join us via Zoom @ https://zoom.us/j/284093798.
